I got my PhD in Condensed matter physics, but also worked as a software developer for the last 10 years using PostgreSQL as a production database. After participating in GSoC'17 I became interested in Postgres internals. Being a software engineer in Postgres Professional company I work on PostgreSQL core patches. By now I have contributed a handful of small bugfixes and test improvements into the PostgreSQL binary utilities.
