Markus Winand
As an author, trainer, and coach Markus Winand specializes in helping developers cope with SQL performance issues. He also published the book "SQL Performance Explained" and tweets his best performance tips via @SQLPerfTips.
Developer by heart, Markus also spent several years in the IT operations department of a bank. This was where he realized that developers don't know enough about database performance and, even worse, don't have a fair chance to learn about it. In 2009 he decided to do something about it — the idea of Use The Index, Luke! was born. So he left the bank to start his own business which is about how he stopped worrying about database performance and learned to love the index.
