Álvaro Hernández Tortosa

Álvaro is a 34 year-old IT entrepreneur, founder of three companies. He's a DBA and Java consultant at NOSYS (www.nosys.es), a software development company. And founder and CEO of Wizzbill, a startup that offers smartphone and web products and services for mobile phone users to save money on their phone bill.

Álvaro is a passionate software developer and open source advocate. He started developing with PostgreSQL back in 1997. He's a certified instructor for the Java Specialist Master Course, as well as most of EnterpriseDB's courses, such as "Introduction to PostgreSQL Administration", "Advanced PostgreSQL Administration" and "PostgreSQL for Java Developers and Architects" (teaching them both in Spanish and English).

Álvaro is currently based in Madrid, Spain. He's a Telecommunication Engineer (UPM, Madrid, and University of Austin at Texas), and considers himself as a geek and learnaholic person. He's also passionate about all sports, specially triathlon and skiing.

Álvaro is a passionate software developer and open source advocate. He started developing with PostgreSQL back in 1997. He's an experienced instructor in several computer-related fields such as security, programming and, of course, PostgreSQL databases. He is a developer and trainer in Java, PostgreSQL, Linux and Cloud. Specifically, he's a certified instructor for the Java Specialist Master Course (www.javaspecialists.eu/contact.html). Together with a partnership with EnterpriseDB, Álvaro is also a certified trainer, both in Spanish and English, for most of EnterpriseDB's courses, such as "Introduction to PostgreSQL Administration", "Advanced PostgreSQL Administration" and "PostgreSQL for Java Developers and Architects". He's also instructor in other areas such as Linux System Administration (as a professor at University Antonio de Nebrija, Spain) and Cloud Computing (“Cloud Computing and SaaS Application Programming”).

Álvaro is currently based in Madrid, Spain, although he's relocating to Wizzbill's new offices in San Francisco sometime during 2013. He's a Telecommunication Engineer (Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain) and also studied abroad for one year at the University of Austin at Texas. He considers himself as a geek and learnaholic person, also passionate about sports such as triathlon and skiing.
