Dan Langille

Dan Langille has been involved in Open Source advocacy since 1998. He is the founder of several projects and websites, has a natural talent for organizing conferences, and contributes to a few others as well.

Dan started with a Bachelor of Computer Science and, after 13 years of professional work, found FreeBSD when he needed a firewall for his broadband connection. Since then, he has gone on to create a few popular websites:

  • The FreeBSD Diary
  • FreshPorts
  • FreshSource
  • BSDCan
  • PGCon
He contributes to FreeBSD, Phorum, and Bacula. He describes himself as a software developer with sysadmin tendencies.
